The Pioneers fall to 1-1 on the season after Friday night's loss to Rappahannock County. The boys were out sized in every position on the court, and it crushed FVCS in the transition game. The Pioneers played great half-court defense, while Will Lunsford did his best to keep their big men off the boards. The Pioneers lost the game on transition defense. On a missed shot by Fresta Valley; RC would rebound the ball and make three quick, and sharp, passes down the court for an easy lay-up. The Pioneers kept their head up and finished the game strong. Coach Jake Fries believes the team was not prepared enough for such a large and aggressive team. " We did some things really good tonight, but we need to be more active and ready for a team like this..... we will be next time" . In hopes to play RC again, the Pioneers would likely need to meet them in the VMSC Championship. "That would be the only time we can face them again. I think we can get to the finals and I believe they will be there waiting, because that is one of the best teams we will play all year." The Pioneers will play their first non-conference game on Tuesday, as they travel to Wakefield in the Plains, VA for a 4:00 pm game.
