Today's game vs Highland School was a great teaching point for FVC middle school team. The Pioneers came out without their trademark: hustle. In an evenly matched game, the Pioneers tried to out dribble and force plays onto the Highland squad. "I told the team it was our worst game of the year, and it had nothing to do with the opponent or the score. We simply did not play our hardest." The Pioneers continued to lose possession of the ball by not finding their teammate's feet. Highland School was able to get a goal midway through the 2nd half. With limited shots on goal, Coach Fries moved a few players around in hopes to get some better chances to even the score. In the final few minutes, Highland found the back of the net again to double their score, making the final: 2-0. "As frustrated as I am about the result, it is a great teaching point to the girls. Hopefully, after today, they understand what has been preached to them this entire season, which is: you are not always going to play your best game. You are going to make mistakes. But hustle and intensity makes up for mistakes. And if we play our hardest; we may not have the result we want on the scoreboard, but we can keep our heads up and be proud of our effort. And the other team has total respect for us in our repeated effort and energy for the entire sixty minutes."
